Mastering web3 communication

Create crystal-clear messaging your audience will resonate with

An area many web3 projects fail? Clear communication and distribution!

Today, we’ll walk through three steps that will help you master crystal-clear messaging your audience will resonate with.

  • Leveraging pain points

  • Linking communication to pain

  • Best positioning you for distribution

Two key phrases to keep in mind:

  • A confused mind never buys

  • When you’re communicating to everybody, you’re communicating to nobody

Step 1: Pain Points

Before we can simply start communicating, we need to know WHO we are speaking to and what pain they have.

Examples:

  • Finding vetted and professional web3 freelancers

  • Struggle to link marketing to actual conversions on chain

Thinking deeply about the potential users and what problems/pain they’re trying to solve is absolutely essential.

As Benjamin Franklin said, “If you would persuade, appeal to interest not to reason.”

As such, we have to focus on what the person is INTERESTED in versus trying to reason them into a solution.

Step 2: Messaging

Let’s take the examples above and use them to better form our communication.

“Finding vetted and professional web3 freelancers.”

  • Struggling to find an amazing web3 freelancer? Find one in minutes with ___________”

  • Stop wasting time on amateurs! Find a professional web3 freelancer today with __________”

“Struggle to link marketing to actual conversions on-chain.”

  • Stop throwing 💩 at the wall with your marketing. Know exactly what’s converting, both on-chain and off-chain with ________”

  • It’s impossible to optimize your web3 marketing when you’re flying blind. With _______, you see all conversions instantly in a simple dashboard.”

What are we focusing on?

  • Saving time

  • Saving money

  • Creating visible value

  • Portraying a transformation

  • Speaking directly to the avatar!

Clarity over cleverness is key!

Step 3: Distribution

With our pain points and communication underway, it’s key we consider this next area: Distribution.

A message, whether more visual or wordy, needs to be distributed to the appropriate channels in a way that channel is best optimized.

For example, if you’re on Twitter, consider a brief text message with a photo.

TikTok will need short form videos.

YouTube can handle longer form videos that might even outline a problem in more detail.

Common mistake…

A common mistake is to simply distribute the same message the same way no matter what the distribution channel.

Instead, we need to optimize based on the distribution channel so efforts are maximized.

Yes, this might even mean making several versions of a video: Instagram, TikTok & Twitter.

When we’re focused on messaging that catches attention, interrupts common patterns and has a call to action, we stand the best chance of getting results.

Even something as simple as missing a call to action could make or break your marketing efforts.

Users might not think to “Follow” or “Subscribe” until you mention it.

Wrapping Up

We need three things to enable clear communication that connects with an audience:

  • Pain points (reason to change)

  • A clear message that captures their attention

  • Optimized content for various distribution channels

With this above, we’re able to deliver a clear message that speaks directly to our target audience’s pain points.

Bonus: Before you market, do some light testing or get user feedback directly.
